When pipetting, the most effective way to mix metals is in a well plate, starting from equimolar solutions of different metals. When this method is used, the stoichiometry of metals in the resultant solution is the same as the proportions of liquid volumes used.


Starting with a 0.35M solution of NaNO3 (aq), and a 0.35M solution of KNO3 (aq), 25μL of NaNO3 (aq) is added to a well, followed by 75μL of KNO3 (aq). 900μL of distilled water is then added to the same well to dilute the overall metal concentration to 0.035M, a suitable concentration for deposition via micropipette onto the FTO glass plate.
